PNG is the usual format for screenshots and graphics because it keeps every pixel exact. A PDF bundles many such images into one document with real page sizes, which is easier to email, attach to an application or print.

The PNG data goes into the PDF unchanged, so nothing is recompressed and sharp edges and small text look exactly as they did. Transparent areas show the white of the page.

    Screenshots that print well

Choose A4 or US Letter when the PDF may be printed; each screenshot is scaled to fit and centred, and wide images get a landscape page. Choose Same as image when the PDF will only be read on screen and you want each page to match its screenshot exactly.

    Keeping the file size down

Because PNG is lossless, a PDF made from large PNG photos can be big. For photos, convert them to JPG first with the PNG to JPG converter, then build the PDF. Keep screenshots and graphics as PNG for the sharpest result.

    Frequently asked questions

    Are my images uploaded?

No. The PDF is created by your browser on your own device, so screenshots of private chats, accounts or documents stay with you.

    Will my screenshots lose quality?

No. PNG images are embedded in the PDF exactly as they are, without re-compression.

Can I combine PNG and JPG images in one PDF?

Yes. You can mix PNG, JPG and WebP images. PNG and JPG are kept as they are; WebP is converted to high-quality JPG first, because PDF cannot hold WebP data.

    What happens to transparent areas?

They show the page behind them, which is white. The transparency itself is kept in the PDF.

Can I change the page order?

Yes. Use the arrows next to each image before you create the PDF, or remove an image with the × button.
